MINDFUL DRAWING

WELLBEING COURSE

TUESDAYS 5.30-7PM | 30th April – 28th May | 5 weeks | $60

Tutor: Emily Armstrong (MA&D)

Held at Creative Arts Napier, 16 Byron St, Napier

Join Emily for five weeks of mindful drawing projects. Each project is designed to exercise your creativity and help restore a sense of inner calm by focusing on the experience of drawing.

This is not a traditional ‘learn to draw’ course so we wont be covering how to draw realistic subjects. Instead, you’ll learn techniques for using a drawing journal as an outlet to record your experiences and imaginative ideas.

These adults art classes are about using drawing as a form of personal expression. You’ll be guided to explore and develop your own personal style whether it becomes abstract, quirky or representational – there is no right or wrong!

No drawing experience necessary, just a willingness to experiment with drawing without judgement of the outcome.

All materials including sketchbook are provided.

This course is made possible by funding from Hawkes Bay Foundation and Waiohiki Arts Village Trust as part of ongoing community recovery from Cyclone Gabrielle.

Over the first five classes, discover new techniques through a series of exercises and small projects. In the final two weeks you’ll be able to confidently draw a subject of your own choice with guidance from the tutor.

This course is suitable for complete beginners or for those people who want a refresher to get back into art. All students receive a start-up drawing materials pack including pencils and a sketchbook.
